These brownies are my Grandma Lou's old recipe, she sent them to me recently in the mail and I, of course, changed them and made them my own; but the base of this recipe is my Grandma Lou's. Grandma Lou never really enjoy cooking but her boyfriend at the Charles loved cooking! He would make the most amazing lasagna (which I am posting the recipe for!) and the most amazing cheesecake; he was Italian. Sadly, he passed away June 2009; he was driving on the highway and had a heart attack, luckily he did not crash or cause an accident, he just went off the side of the highway and stopped, but he ended up passing away in that car that very second. Second worst day ever! First was loosing my Grandpa Glen. But, Charles loved to cook, sausage and onions were his speciality and to this day I cannot recreate that dish for the life of me, gonna ask Grandma Lou about it. These brownies were his and Grandma's favorite, so these are for you Charles! I love and miss you daily!
